Emergency services rush to Portmarnock beach after child 'falls off inflatable toy' in Dublin

A young girl is being treated at Portmarnock beach after she fell off an inflatable device.

Emergency services including two helicopters, the Coast Guard, the RNLI, gardai, two Dublin Fire Brigade vehicles and and an ambulance are currently at the south end of the north Dublin beach.

Witnesses have told Dublin Live that a girl - believed to be as young as five years old - fell into the sea while playing on an inflatable toy.

It's understood that an emergency was called after the boy failed to resurface from the sea, with images seen by Dublin Live showing the RNLI rescue vessel heading towards Portmarnock from Howth harbour, reports Dublin Live.

A local man who lives next to the beach said: "They've blocked off the road from traffic so that the emergency services can do their thing.

"Two helicopters have been floating around, and several Fire Brigade emergency vehilces and motorbike cops just shot past us towards the south beach car park.

"A couple have apparently gone up towards the north end near Spar - it's easy for an ambulance to get onto the beach from that end.

"Please God the child is OK. Everyone here is just very shocked and hoping the lad pulls through."
