Emergency services rush to incident near Shotts as train services disrupted

Emergency services have rushed to an incident earlier this morning on a rail line near Shotts.

ScotRail confirmed the incident between Shotts and West Calder at around 7.30am this morning, with cancellations to services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh.

A tweet from the rail operator said: "We have emergency services dealing with an incident between Shotts and West Calder. Services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh will be revised, we'll keep you updated."

They later added: "Ticket acceptance activated between Edinburgh and Wester Hailes with Lothian buses."

It is not currently known if anyone was injured in the incident, with British Transport Police contacted for comment.

The line is now reopened, but disruption is still expected for passengers.
