Emergency services rush to incident at Leith Street in Edinburgh City Centre

A large emergency service presence rushed to a busy street in Edinburgh today after a man collapsed.

Police arrived at Leith Street at around 1.44 pm today and a man was rushed to hospital where his conditions is not yet known.

Pictures sent to Edinburgh Live show police and the ambulance service outside the Omni Centre in Edinburgh City Centre.

Officers say are carrying out an investigation in the area to establish what happened.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Police were called to the Leith Street area around 1.45pm on Tuesday, 30 March, after a man had taken unwell.

"He was taken by ambulance to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area."
