Emergency services rush to Heathrow Airport as two planes collide

Emergency services rushed onto the tarmac at Heathrow Airport after two planes reportedly collided while taxiing this evening.

The incident took place at around 8pm and involved a Korean Air flight KE908. It is understood to have scraped the side of another aircraft while taxiing at the London airport.

Footage of the crash, at around 8pm on Wednesday, has appeared on Twitter. The airport has since confirmed that the collision took place, but said it wasn't "full on", reports the Mirror.

One eyewitness tweeted that a Korean Air plane was involved in the accident. Another said: "Pretty sure we scrapped another plane with our wing tip while taxiing.

"We have been told that we are going back to the gate due to a technical issue. But that was 15 mins ago and we haven't moved."

A passenger on the Korean Air flight told the Daily Star : "I was watching out the window thinking we were awful close to the tail for a parked plane. And then it looked like we grazed it. The captain hasn't really told us much except we are going back to the gate due to a technical issue."

Emergency services are attending the scene, but an airport spokeswoman said no injuries had been reported.

She said: “Emergency services are attending an incident involving two aircraft on the airfield.

“No injuries have been reported but emergency services are attending to ensure all passengers and crew are safe and well.”

Flight KE908 was due to depart at 7,35pm to Seoul, Korea, but has not yet left the airport.
