Police Scotland have confirmed an incident is ongoing.

Eye witness Matt Donlan tweeted: “Lots of police activity at Waverley. Fire brigade also on scene and ambulance incident response unit just arrived.

“Market Street entrance to station closed and police have closed off Market Street itself.”

He added: "North Bridge is closed. Traffic coming off South Bridge diverted down Royal Mile."

Scotrail also tweeted an update stating: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident near the railway at Edinburgh Waverley our train services running through the station may be delayed."

Police Scotland, Scottish Ambulance Services and Scottish Fire and Rescue have all been contacted by the Daily Record for comment.
