Emergency services rush to crash between pedestrian and car outside Botanic Gardens

Emergency services rushed to the scene of a crash between a pedestrian and car outside the Botanic Gardens.

The incident happened on Great Western Road at around 5.50pm with the female pedestrian taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The full extent of her injuries is not known at this time.

Officers remain at the scene following the crash with Glasgow City Council confirming the road is closed to all northbound vehicles.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called around 5.15pm to report of a road traffic crash involving a pedestrian and a car on Great Western Road, Glasgow, near the entrance to the Botanic Gardens. A woman, the pedestrian, has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. Officers are currently at the scene."

A statement from the council's Traffic Control and Management Team reads: "Due to a road traffic collision, Queen Margaret Drive at the junction of Great Western Road/ Byres Road is currently closed to northbound traffic until further notice. Emergency Services are in attendance and road users should follow Police direction."
