Emergency services rush to Cambuslang town centre after vehicle goes on fire

Emergency services rushed to Cambuslang this morning after a road markings vehicle went on fire.

The truck was parked near a bus stop and flames and smoke were visible from it.

It is understood there was added concern due to the maintenance vehicle carrying gas canisters.

One eye-witness told Lanarkshire Live: "There was a lot of activity. Two appliances were being used and they were pumping water from the mains so it must have been a bad one."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 10.36am to reports of a vehicle on fire on Cambuslang's Main Street.

"Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene where firefighters extinguished the fire and made the area safe before leaving the scene.

"There were no casualties."

It is uncertain how the fire had started.
