Emergency services raced to Glasgow bridge to deal with late night incident

A busy city centre bridge over the River Clyde was closed last night due to a police incident.

Emergency services raced to Albert Bridge in Glasgow around 7pm to deal with a concern for person call.

The bridge was closed in both directions as police responded to the incident.

Glasgow Live reports the City Council's traffic management department (TRAFFCOM) issued a bulletin on the closure around 7.15pm on Wednesday evening.

The bulletin reads: "Due to an ongoing police incident the Albert Bridge is closed in both directions until further notice."

Drivers and pedestrians who intended to use the bridge - that links the Saltmarket in the city centre with Crown Street on the city’s south side - were advised to follow police direction.

Albert Bridge has since fully reopened.
