Emergency services race to Scots town after ‘unexploded bomb’ sparks mass evacuation of nearby homes

Several homes have been evacuated after an unexploded bomb was discovered in a Scots town.

Police and fire crews have been called to the scene in the Victoria Avenue area of Milnathort after the alarm was raised on Friday evening.

A large cordon has been put in place while a specialist bomb squad has been called to examine the device.

It is understood that several roads leading to the scene have also been closed off by police while the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are also in attendance.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers are currently in attendance in Milnathort after what is believed to be an unexploded ordnance device was found in the Victoria Avenue area.

“A cordon remains in place while specialist teams examine the item.

“A number of properties have been evacuated as a precaution.”
