Emergency services race to scene as van 'explodes' near Prestwick Airport

Emergency services are rushing to the scene of a van on fire near Prestwick Airport.

Eye witnesses say the vehicle exploded on Shaw Road in Prestwick.

Pictures from the scene show a Hamilton Tarmac van engulfed in flames.

An eye witness said: "There's a van on fire and the gas canisters within it exploded.

"I saw multiple ambulances and police rushing to the scene but it doesn't look good."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We were called to a report of a van on fire on Shaw Road at 11.40am.

"As this was only 20 minutes ago there isn't anything further to say at this stage - we've been made aware by other emergency services."
