Emergency services race scene of car plunging into water near Scots farm

An ongoing incident in Renfrewshire has sparked a major emergency response today.

Officers from Police Scotland, paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service raced out to Quarriers Village just after 10am this morning and currently remain on the scene.

Water rescue and police dog units have also been spotted in attendance at the incident near Hattrick Farm at the Bridge of Weir.

A car is thought to have gone into the River Gryfe at the village.

One resident, who lives in the area, told the Daily Record that police informed her the incident was "serious".

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were in attendance at an incident in the village after being called out at 10.22am.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 10.22am on Tuesday, February 23 to reports of a car in the water at Hattrick Farm, Bridge of Weir.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances and two water rescue resources to the scene.

“There were no reported casualties.

“Crews have now left the scene.”

Police Scotland has been contacted by the Daily Record for comment on the incident
