Emergency services race to Port Seton after woman spotted falling from harbour

Local East Lothian police officers were called to Port Seton harbour yesterday evening after a woman fell into the sea from the harbour wall.

A member of the public reported the incident to the police and the Scottish Ambulance Service and Coastguard were also contacted.

On arrival of the ambulance the woman was seen to be within the water approximately 30 feet from the wall.

Members of the coastguard, who were in the area at the time of the call dealing with a separate incident, diverted and rescued the female from the water.

The woman, who sustained no serious injuries, was conveyed to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for further care.

We reported yesterday that nearly 100 people drowned in Scottish waters in 2019, including five in and around Edinburgh.
