Emergency services race to Pollokshaws Road after major traffic accident

Emergency services have raced to Pollokshaws Road in the south side of Glasgow after a major traffic accident.

Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service are currently on the scene.

A police spokesperson confirmed to Glasgow Live: "We were called at 9.15am regarding a serious road crash on Nitsdale Drive at Pollokshaws Road.

"Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are ongoing."

A Tweet posted by passer-by (SC)Funkman05 shows a photo of the scene, while the social media user has described the incident as a "Fatal RTA", however, this is yet to be confirmed.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 0912 hours today to attend a road traffic incident on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow.

"One ambulance, a paramedic response unit and our trauma team were dispatched and our crews are currently on  scene."

Meanwhile, Glasgow City Council's Traffic Control and Management Team (TRAFFCOM) confirmed the incident and advise delays in the area are likely.

A statement read: "Due to an RTC on Pollokshaws Road at Nithsdale Drive, Police are in attendance. Updates will be issues when they become available.

"Drivers are advised to approach with caution.

"Delays are to be expected."

Pollokshaws Road is a major commuting route between the south side of the city and Glasgow City Centre.
