Emergency services race to ‘ongoing incident’ at barber shop in Musselburgh

Police are currently in attendance at a Scots barber shop following reports of an assault.

Emergency services remain at the scene outside S. Kucharski Gents Barber on Musselburgh High Street after the alarm was raised just before 2pm on Friday.

Pictures from the scene show an officer standing outside the front door of the premises which is behind a police cordon.

Several more uniformed officers have also been seen outside the shop as enquiries into the alleged assault remain ongoing.

Details of any injuries are not currently known however one person has been taken to hospital.

One eyewitness told the Daily Record: “There appears to be some sort of police incident on Musselburgh High Street.

“The road is completely congested with traffic, police cars and an ambulance.

“There’s a cordon outside a barber shop with a chair placed outside the door so it looks like something may have happened inside.”

Police Scotland confirmed they are in attendance.

A force spokesman said: “Police were called around 1.55pm on Friday, 16 April, 2021 following the report of assault on Musselburgh High Street.

“Officers are currently in attendance and enquiries are ongoing into the incident.”

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service added: “We received a call at 1.57pm today to attend an incident in Musselburgh.

"We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one patient to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
