Emergency services race to 'major police incident' on Hamilton street

Emergency services raced to an incident in Hamilton as cops locked down the town's Cadzow Street.

The road was closed from its junction with Leechlee Road to Lower Auchingramont Road due to the 'major police incident'.

One male was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital following the incident.

The road has since reopened to motorists.

A statement from South Lanarkshire council said: " Emergency closure: Cadzow Street, Hamilton is closed from its junction with Leechlee Road to Lower Auchingramont Road due to a major police incident.

"A diversion is being put in place via east along Cadzow Street, Keith Street, Palace Grounds Road and Muir Street."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 1141 hours today to attend an incident on Cadzow Street in Hamilton.

"We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one male patient to Wishaw General Hospital.”

Police Scotland confirmed to the Daily Record they were in attendance.
