Emergency services race to incident as police lock down part of Scots motorway

Police have locked down part of a Scots motorway as they currently deal with a concern for person call.

Officers were contacted just after 5pm to attend an incident on the M876 Westbound at junction 2, near Falkirk.

Cops closed in both directions between the M8 junction 8 and the M9, junction 8.

Traffic Scotland has reported that the M876 Northbound at junction one and two is now open but Southbound remains closed.

Emergency services remain in attendance at the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.05pm on Thursday, 27 May, 2021, we received a report of a concern for person on the M876 westbound at junction 2.

“Emergency services are in attendance and the road has been closed in both directions between M8 junction 8 and M9 junction 8.”

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and take an alternative route if possible as traffic remains heavy.

Some bus services have been cancelled due to the ongoing incident.
