Emergency services race to horror two-car smash on A96 as busy road shut

A horror car crash on the A96 has shut down the busy road after a two-car smash.

Emergency services have raced to the scene between Huntly and Inverurie after the alarm was raised around 4.20pm today.

Locals have reported an a ir ambulances was the area but it is unknown if there have been any casualties at this time.

Police remain in the area blocking traffic as drivers are being urged to find alternative routes.

Roads are expected to stay shut down 'for some time'.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a crash involving two vehicles on the A96 between Huntly and Inverurie around 4.20pm on Tuesday, 6 April.

"Emergency services are currently attending and the road is closed."

Traffic Scotland said: "The A96 remains CLOSED in both directions at Bainshole due to a road traffic crash.

"Emergency services are on scene.

"The road is likely to remain closed for some time.
