Emergency services race to horror lorry crash on M74 as busy motorway closed

Emergency services have raced to the scene of a horror lorry crash on the M74 in South Lanarkshire.

Crews were called to the scene on the northbound carriageway near Junction 12, near Uddington, after the incident, which took place shortly before 3pm on Monday March 22.

The road has in both directions while the ongoing incident is dealt with.

It is not currently known if anyone has been injured.

Motorists are being urged to use an alternative route.

Traffic Scotland tweeted: “M74 is closed in both directions due to an RTC. N/B closed at J12. S/B closed at J11. Emergency services on scene.

"Updates as we get them.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 2.50pm on Monday, 22 March, 2021 following the report of an overturned lorry on the M74 Northbound at junction 12.

"Emergency services are currently in attendance and the carriageway is currently closed in both directions.

"No further details at this time.”
