Emergency services race to horror crash on M90 as car and caravan ‘plunge down embankment’

Emergency services were called after a car and caravan collided on a busy Scots motorway in Fife.

Police, paramedics and fire crews were alerted at around 11.45am on Friday after the two vehicle collision on the M90 near Bridge of Earn.

Local reports suggest both vehicles have left the road and landed in a ditch that runs alongside a carriageway.

One northbound lane was closed while first responders deal with the incident.

A man and a woman have been taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee but their conditions are unknown.

Drivers were being warned to expect delays in the area before the road fully reopened at around 3pm.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 11.49am on Friday, August 14 to reports of a road traffic collision on the M90 near Balmanno Hill, Perth and Kinross, involving a car and a caravan.

"Operations Control mobilised four appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene, where crews worked to remove two casualties from the car before handing them into the care of paramedics.

"Firefighters left after making the area safe."

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police were called around 11.45am to a report of a road crash involving a car towing a caravan on the M90, Junction 9 north bound.
