Emergency services race to Glasgow street after sudden death of man

A man has tragically died after falling ill on a busy Glasgow city centre street.

Police raced to the scene on Argyle Street at around 12.45pm on Tuesday following reports a member of the public had taken unwell.

Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service were also called but pronounced the man dead a short time later.

A large police cordon remains in place while cops carry out enquiries in the local area, Glasgow Live reports.

The man’s death is not believed to be suspicious.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a man having taken unwell on Argyle Street in Glasgow around 12.45pm on Tuesday, 20 October.

"The Scottish Ambulance Service attended and the man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
