Man airlifted to hospital after horror A9 crash as cops shut road

A man has been airlifted to hospital after a serious crash on the A9.

Police are currently on the scene one mile north of Dornoch, near Golspie and the road is closed in both directions.

Mercy crews responded to calls of an incident at 8.10am on Friday morning.

One man was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital.

The extent of his injuries is unknown.

People are being urged to avoid the area as drivers face long tailbacks due to the road closure.

A police spokeswoman confirmed they were in attendance after being called out at 8.10am.
A Scottish ambulance spokesperson said: "We received a call at 08:11am today to attend a road traffic collision on the A9, north of Dornoch Bridge.

"We dispatched one ambulance, a BASICS GP and an air ambulance to the scene."
