Emergency services race to Portobello High Street after 'bad' rush-hour crash

Emergency services have raced to a "bad" rush-hour crash in Portobello early this morning.

Edin Travel News, a council-run traffic and travel feed, reported there had been a crash on Portobello High Street shortly after 7am this morning.

The busy commuter road is still partially blocked citybound just after Adelphi Grove following the incident, with traffic slow in the area.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said officers were called to the incident, involving one vehicle, at around 7.00am.

The driver has been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but is not thought to be seriously injured.

One Twitter user (@smcintoshplan) said: "Reports of a v bad car crash near Wine Shop/Police Station (you can hear the sirens now).

"Emergency services on scene & will be stopping the traffic. Avoid Porty High Street long queues likely."

Elsewhere, one local shared a photo of the crash in community Facebook group Porty People, writing: "What a morning! Waking up for the house shaking!"
