Emergency services race to Ayrshire town following reports of 'concern for person'

Police Scotland have issued an update after a number of emergency services vehicles were spotted in the Irvine Valley.

Police, the Scottish Fire and Rescue and the Scottish Ambulance Service attended an incident yesterday evening.

Shortly before 7pm, officers were called to Newmilns after being made aware of concern for a person near to a bridge on Craigview Road – close to the town's library.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police Scotland were called to Craigview Road, Newmilns at 6.56pm following a report of concern for a person.

"Assistance was provided and a person was taken to hospital."
