Emergency Services Open Day sells out in five minutes - here's how to still get tickets

The website for the annual Emergency Services Open Day crashed this morning (July 22) due to overwhelming demand for tickets.

The highly anticipated event will take place in the Police and Fire Headquarters in Portishead on September 15.

The work of the emergency services will be showcased to visitors, who will be able to watch displays from Avon and Somerset’s police dog, mounted and firearms sections, car cutting and animal rescue demonstrations from Avon Fire and Rescue .

There will be a variety of food outlets and picnic areas, and visitors can also enjoy woodland walks around the grounds.

This year tickets sold out in just five minutes but those will missed out will have a second opportunity next month.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "There will be another opportunity to buy tickets on August 14.

"We ask people to keep an eye on the website for more information."
