Three people rescued from 'serious' high rise fire in Tallaght

A major fire that broke out this afternoon at a South Dublin hotel has been brought under control according to reports..

An Garda Siochana told the Irish Mirror they were alerted to the incident at around 4:20 pm today.

Police and Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene of the blaze at the business premises in Tallaght, Dublin 24.

A cordon was put in place and traffic diversions were in operation, meanwhile, Luas services between Tallaght and Belgard had been suspended - but have since resumed.

Footage of the incident is doing the rounds on social media showing clouds of smoke filling the air around a cluster of buildings.

Dublin Fire Brigade issued an update on the incident on social media this evening and confirmed the blaze was now "under control."

They wrote: "The high rise fire in Tallaght is now under control.

"We've scaled back the number of units on scene. Three people were rescued using a turntable ladder.

"Three people were led to safety.

"We remain on scene damping down hotspots".
