Emergency services launch major search of River Clyde after man went missing

A major search and rescue operation has been launched after a man was reported in difficulty in the River Clyde.

Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the incident at around 7.05pm near Strathclyde Path, Uddingston. Local residents reported a heavy police presence near the scene last night and today.

The man in difficulty has not been traced and Police Scotland have confirmed they are still in attendance alongside other emergency services at the scene this morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 7.05pm on Saturday, 15 August, 2020, officers received a report of a 44-year-old man in difficulty in the River Clyde, near Strathclyde Path, Uddingston.

“Emergency services are in attendance and a search is currently underway.”
