40 people evacuated from disused sauna in city centre

Around 40 people had to be evacuated from a nine-storey building following a fire in a sauna.

Crews from Temple fire station were called to the building in All Saints' Street at 7.58pm last night (July 24).

Several people had to be evacuated from the city centre building while firefighters extinguished the blaze.

Photos taken from the scene show at least three fire engines and a group of people gathered outside the building.

Temple fire station said on Twitter the sauna was disused at the time of the fire.

"Crews attended a fire in a disused sauna in a nine-storey building," the post read.

"Crews used two breathing apparatus with a 45mm jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan to extinguish the fire.

"Crews also evacuated 40 people from the building."
