Emergency services discover man's body in Gateshead woodland

The body of a man has been found in a Gateshead woodland.

Emergency services were called over concerns about the welfare of a man in a wooded area off Felling Gate, Felling, on Wednesday night.

Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Northumbria Police said the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A police spokeswoman said: “At about 7.40pm on Wednesday we received a report of concern for the welfare of a man in the wooded area off Felling Gate, Felling.

“Emergency services attended and the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time.

“A report has been prepared for the coroner and our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time.”
