Emergency services dealing with 'huge' house fire in Uddingston

Firefighters are currently battling a blaze at a house in Uddingston.

Four fire engines are tackling the fire at a property on Cuillins Estate, just off Old Edinburgh Road, which is thought to have started around 2.30pm.

Police say no one has been injured but there are concerns that nearby properties could also be damaged.

Locals have reported seeing smoke pouring out of the property and the roof of the house completely destroyed, reports Lanarkshire Live.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) spokesman said: “We were alerted at 2.36pm to reports of a fence and decking on fire at a property at The Cuillins, Uddingston.

“We immediately mobilised two appliances to the scene, where a fire had spread to a semi-detached property, and a further four appliances were mobilised.

“Crews are currently still in attendance and there are no reported casualties at this time.”

One witness said on Facebook: “The roof is completely off and over three fire engines are there now.”
