Emergency services closed off Arnold road after woman was trapped in car

Emergency services closed off Spring Lane and Coppice Road in Arnold on Thursday night following a crash which left a female trapped in her vehicle.

The incident happened just before 9.30pm on Thursday, July 4, at the Spring Lane roundabout.

Police said that two cars were involved and no arrests have been made.

Fire crews from Arnold, Stockhill and Highfields were also at the scene.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "We attended a road traffic collision involving one car on its side in a ditch.

"One female was extricated by fire-fighters using cutting gear and small tools and left in the care of East Midlands Ambulance Service."

Police said that her injuries are believed to be minor and the road was reopened before midnight.

One onlooker said: "They wouldn’t let us get to our house. The Spring Lane roundabout was closed off.

"When we went back later there was blue police tape and were told it was a car that had gone into the field and a person had been trapped inside."

The incident caused delays to bus services in the area.

Nottingham City Transport said: "A road traffic collision on Mapperley Plains - between Spring Lane and Coppice Road has closed the road towards city.

"Sky Blue 47 towards City cannot serve the Coppice Road named stop and is diverting via Catfoot Lane, Lambley and Spring Lane."
