Emergency services called to serious collision on A52 on Boxing Day

Police closed a busy carriageway after a serious collision in the early hours of Boxing Day (December 26).

Emergency services were called to the scene on A52 Brian Clough Way westbound between the junction 25 and the A5111 in Raynesway, Derby at around 12.25am after reports of a crash.

Firefighters and ambulances attended the scene of the incident.

Officers from Derbyshire Police shut the carriageway for a few hours while dealing with the collision.

Police described the incident as "serious".

The westbound reopened at around 4am on the same day.

Traffic monitoring operator National Highways released an update, adding: "The A52 Brian Clough Way westbound between the M1 J25 and the A5111 Raynesway Derby is now fully open after the earlier collision. No delays."
