Emergency services called to 'popping sounds like explosions' as fire breaks out

Emergency services were called to "sounds of popping like explosions" as a fire broke out at a Nottingham property.

Nottinghamshire Police and Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to a property where the fire had broken out in Robin Hood Way, The Meadows.

They were called at around 4.55pm on Saturday, June 12.

Smoke could be seen rising into the air from the Appliance Furniture Solutions business, visible in the surrounding area and Wilford Toll Bridge.

The fire was extinguished by crews at around 5.18pm and it is understood it was fridges that caught on fire, police have said.

Robin Hood Way and Riverside Way were briefly blocked off by emergency services, but the scene has now been cleared and there are no police on-site anymore.

The fire was self-contained and had not spread to any other buildings.
