Emergency services called to multi-vehicle smash in Swinton

Emergency services have been called to a multi-vehicle smash in Swinton.

Police received reports of the crash involving at least four vehicles in Manchester Road, near to the junction with Prospect View, at about 5.30pm.

Eyewitnesses at the scene have reported as many as eight vehicles, including a bus, being involved.

No one is thought to have suffered serious injuries.

However, pictures from the scene show one car with damage to its side and without one of its back wheels.

Long delays have been reported on nearby roads and drivers are being asked to avoid the area while emergency services clear the scene.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At 5.31pm today, we received a report of a collision on Manchester Road, in Swinton.

"Officers are still on scene managing the incident.

"At least four vehicles have been involved.

"The early signs are that no one has suffered serious injuries."
