Emergency services called to 'large' house fire in Thornbury

A blaze erupted at a large house in Thornbury during the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters from three stations raced to the home at 2:10am on Wednesday, November 6.

Crews used three high pressure hose reels to tackle the flames.

A dramatic photograph from the scene shows a turntable ladder being used to reach the top of the building, which had smoke billowing out its roof.

An Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews from Temple, Patchway and Thornbury fire stations were called to a fire in a residential building.

"On arrival, eight firefighters in breathing apparatus used three high pressure hose reels and three 45mm jets to extinguish the fire.

"They also used three thermal imaging cameras to check for hotspots and remained on scene damping down.

"The cause is thought to be accidental."
