Emergency services called to incident near south Bristol Co-op

A man has been taken to hospital after falling ill in Stockwood this afternoon (Tuesday, April 28).

The incident near the Co-op in Hollway Road was attended to by ambulance crews and officers from Avon and Somerset police.

An air ambulance also landed on grassland nearby.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "It is a medical emergency which involves ambulance and air ambulance.

"We are supporting, providing a cordon to allow them to deal with the incident.

"The man who is ill is being taken to hospital."

South Western Ambulance Service also attended.

A spokesman said: "We responded to an incident at a private address in this area following a call at 1.16pm."

Stockwood features a central precinct between Hollway Road and Stockwood Road which includes a number of shops including the Co-op.

It is also close to Waycroft Academy.
