The road is lined with residential properties as well as local businesses.

It is not known if anyone has been injured as a result of the inferno.

Both Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed their attendance.

A spokeswoman from Police Scotland told the Record: "We were called at 8.15pm on Thursday to reports of a fire at a property in Old Dumbarton Road, Glasgow."

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 8.10pm on Thursday, December 10 to reports of a fire at a residential property on Old Dumbarton Road, Glasgow.
