Emergency services attended a fire which broke out in Newport city centre this morning. Gwent Police and fire services attended Commercial Street, Newport after reports of a fire at about 7am on Thursday, March 16.

The cause of the fire is not known. The AA reported this morning that a section of the road was closed just before 8am due to the incident and that traffic was coping well.
