Firefighters were called to an explosion in a Knowle home this morning (May 2).

Emergency services were called to Hengrove Road at around 8am and discovered a kitchen fire in a first floor flat.

An aerosol left on a hob had caused an explosion.

Crews from Temple and Bedminster extinguished the blaze and a male casualty in his 40s was treated by ambulance crews for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental.

In light of the call, a firefighter has warned people not to leave their kitchen hobs unattended.
