Emergency services called to crash which left car across Congresbury road

Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle smash in North Somerset yesterday afternoon (October 6).

Weston-super-Mare, Avonmouth, Winscombe and Blagdon firefighters all attended the crash at the junction of Venus Street and Brinsea Road.

The casualties involved were rescued from the vehicles prior to their arrival shortly after 4pm.

Pictures from the scene show firefighters at the scene and one of the badly damaged vehicles across the road.

Police and ambulance crews also attended the scene while fire crews made the vehicles safe.

A spokesman for Avon Fire and Rescue said: "At 4.21pm, crews from Winscombe, Weston, Avonmouth and Blagdon fire stations were called to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles.

"All persons were rescued prior to crew’s arrival and police and ambulance were also in attendance."

Winscombe fire station posted on Twitter: "Crews have just attended an RTC in Congresbury. All casualties released before our arrival and in the hands of the ambulance service."

"Crews made vehicles safe and returned to station."
