Emergency services called to concern for welfare in city centre

Emergency services are attending a concern for welfare in the city centre this morning (September 12).

Police, ambulances and fire crews were called to earlier today and remain at the scene.

A number of roads, including Trenchard Street and Frogmore Street have been cordoned off by police.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary has confirmed that officers were called to a concern for welfare.

"Officers have been called to a concern for welfare," a police spokesman said.

"Emergency services are at the scene and localised road closures are in place.

"The incident is ongoing."

A spokesperson for South Western Ambulance Service added: "We were called at 7.44am and have attended with an ambulance, HART (hazardous area response team) and an Operations Officer.

"This incident is currently ongoing."

Elsewhere in Bristol, a motorcyclist has been hailed a hero after fighting off thieves during an attack. The incident was captured on video.

A judge has also slammed Extinction Rebellion members who blocked the M32, saying they stopped a man from 'seeing his dying dad'.
