Emergency services called to Chester-le-Street after van rolls into shop front

A road in Chester-le-Street had to be closed after a van rolled into a shop.

Emergency services were called to Front Street shortly after 11am on Monday morning following the collision.

No one was in the vehicle and nobody was injured, police confirmed.

A spokeswoman for Durham Constabulary said: "Police were called to reports of a one-vehicle collision at 11.20am this morning (June 17) in Chester-Le-Street.

"It is believed a white Ford transit van rolled into a premises on Front Street.

"The building has been assessed and it has been established that there is no structural damage.

"The road has now re opened."
