Emergency services called after teenage boy found dead in County Durham

A teenage boy has been found dead in County Durham.

Police were called to the Baliol Green area of Newton Aycliffe just before 6.30am on Tuesday, where the 16-year-old was unresponsive.

Officers attended along with paramedics and the fire service but the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: "Police received a call shortly before 6.30am this morning (November 3) reporting concerns for an individual near Baliol Green, Newton Aycliffe.

"Officers, paramedics and fire attended and located a 16-year-old male who was unresponsive.

"Sadly the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious, and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
