Emergency services called after car smashes into house in Blackhall Mill

Emergency services responded to an incident where a car collided with a home in Blackhall Mill.

Northumbria Police confirmed they were called to a home in Forge Close just before 6pm on Thursday.

North East Ambulance Service had requested officers to attend.

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service also attended the incident where a woman was freed from her car.

Pictures of the scene show the extent of the damage to the home.

Police have confirmed that no residents were injured. As of 11pm on Thursday night, emergency services had left the scene.

Officers have arranged for structural assessments to be carried out on the property.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly before 6pm last night (Thursday), police received a report that a car had crashed into a house on Forge Close, Gateshead.

“Emergency services attended to free the woman from her car. No residents were injured and officers arranged for structural assessments to be carried out on the property.”
