Emergency services bring woman to safety on the Tyne Bridge

A woman was rescued from the Tyne Bridge by emergency services after concerns were raised about her.

Northumbria Police received a call about the woman on the bridge at 1.30pm on Monday.

Firefighters from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were also believed to be present.

Northumbria Police officers arrived and the woman was brought to safety.

The woman was then left in the care of medical professionals.

A spokesman for Northumbria Police said: “At 1.30pm today (Monday) we received a report of concern for the welfare of a woman on the Tyne Bridge, Newcastle.

“Officers attended and the woman was brought to safety.

"She was left in the care of medical professionals.”
