Emergency services attend scene after car overturns on Newcastle road

Emergency services were called to Newcastle city centre after a car overturned on a busy road.

The blue vehicle was pictured on its roof on the A193 Newbridge Street in Newcastle at around 7.30am on Monday morning.

Photos from the scene showed Northumbria Police and Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident.

The North East Ambulance Service also attended the scene but a spokesperson confirmed paramedics were not needed as no one was injured.

The vehicle overturned at the top of the A167(M) Southbound entry slip road down from the roundabout which meant the road was partially blocked.

Officers put in place a temporary road closure so that the vehicle could be removed from the road and taken away.

The closure did cause some disruption during this morning's rush hour as drivers were urged to join the A167(M) Southbound with care.

At around 8.45am, the vehicle was recovered from the road and all lanes were reopened.
