A woman has been taken to hospital following an incident at a block of Bristol flats.

Police and ambulance crews were seen at flats in Staple Hill between 10am and 11am today (December 23), after officers came across an incident at Berkeley House, in Berkeley Road.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary told Bristol Live a woman had fallen from a balcony.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, told Bristol Live she believed the woman had fallen from the fifth floor, although this is unconfirmed.

A police spokeswoman said: "Just after 10am on Monday, December 23, officers came across an incident in Berkeley Road, Staple Hill.

"A woman had fallen from a balcony. She has gone to hospital for treatment to her injuries. Officers are making enquiries but do not believe there are any suspicious circumstances."

Air ambulance called

South Western Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 10.01am and attended with an air ambulance, an operations officer and an ambulance.

"One patient was taken to hospital for further treatment."

One resident said: "I have lived in the flats for 23 years and we have never had anything like this before.
