Emergency services and forensic police race to Maryhill Locks in response to ongoing incident

Emergency services have raced to Maryhill Locks in response to an ongoing incident.

Police, including forensic officers, the Scottish Ambulance Service and fire crews are at the scene in the north of Glasgow, at the junction of Maryhill Road and Cowal Road.

An eyewitness has told Glasgow Live the emergency services have cordoned part of the canal path off, with rescue boats pictured at the scene.

They said: "The canal path area is completely taped off at both ends at the locks near Maryhill Road. Scores of police and ambulance crews in attendance and what looks like forensic crews also."

Glasgow Live have contacted Police Scotland for comment.

UPDATE 8:31pm: A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called to the canalside at Cowal Road, Maryhill, Glasgow, around 6pm on Wednesday, 17 June, following a report of a man in the water. Officers are currently at the scene."
