Emergency response on A77 at Kilmarnock as collision causes huge tailbacks

A road traffic collision has led to huge tailbacks on the A77 at Kilmarnock tonight.

Motorists were advised that traffic was heavy in the area on the southbound carriageway approaching the Grassyards Interchange.

Emergency services were on the scene in East Ayrshire with police officers and an ambulance in attendance this evening, although it's believed no one sustained any serious injuries or required hospital treatment.

The road was partially blocked as the incident was dealt with, leading to disruption.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were called to a one-vehicle crash on the A77 southbound near the Grassyards Interchange, Kilmarnock, at around 7.15pm on Monday, September 20, 2021.

“The ambulance service were contacted to attend. The roadway was clear by 8.10pm.”
