Emergency response in Kilmarnock town centre after cyclist and car crash

A heavy police presence has descended on Kilmarnock town centre this evening after a car and a cyclist were involved in a crash.

Cops have closed one lane on the one-way system following the collision shortly after 5pm with multiple police vehicles still at the scene.

Emergency services were at the collision site on Sturrock Street with the incident causing delays shortly after taking place.

A police cordon is currently in place around a bicycle near a bridal shop — across from Marks and Spencer.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Around 5.05pm on Saturday, September 11, we received a report of a crash on Sturrock Street in Kilmarnock involving a car and a cyclist.

“Emergency services are in attendance.”
