Emergency response in Chryston as 'potentially hazardous material' discovered in property

'Potentially hazardous material' found in a property in Chryston has sparked an emergency response this afternoon.

Police, forensic officers and fire crews are at the scene in Cumbernauld Road, North Lanarkshire, which is currently closed off to traffic between Knowe Road and Lyndsaybeg Road.

There are no reported injuries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at a property on Cumbernauld Road in Chryston following a report of potentially hazardous material.

"Cumbernauld Road is currently closed between Knowe Road and Lyndsaybeg Road as a precaution while police and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance.

"Nobody has been injured and there is not considered to be any wider threat to the public."
